Nexus One in Europe

by John McCann on January 6, 2010

So the hype finally materialized into a product; Google’s Nexus One is here and there’s a ton of buzz surrounding it.  In case you’ve been under a rock and haven’t seen anything yet, take a look at the following links:

So far most of the hype has been centered around the phone, it’s capabilities and how much of a “game changer” it is.  I’m more interested in when I can get hold of one in Europe.

The fact that it’s available through Vodafone is promising.  From what I can tell the phone will be available in the UK in a few weeks through Vodafone with a contract and immediately from Google from the Google Web Store.  Vodafone has confirmed rumors that it was in talks to sell the handset in France, Germany and other european countries “within weeks”.  Vodafone has also said:

“Our agreement with Google stretches beyond Europe — all Vodafone’s geographies — and over time we will be working to provide offers in other Vodafone operating countries.”

That sounds promising but it’s just not fast enough for my geek-driven gadget addiction, I just checked the Nexus One site a minute ago and it told me that the phone isn’t available in my country yet (Germany).  I’ll check again in a few minutes ;-)
